Waste Management Sponsors a Dedicated
Blood Drive for Young Leukemia Patient

Employees from Waste Management gave the gift of life at a blood drive in honor of seven year old
Hannah Brumley, of Granite City, on Friday, March 21st at their facility in Belleville .
Hannah has been diagnosed with leukemia and is presently undergoing treatment.
A family member, Tim Kirksey, that is employed by Waste Management, along with other employees,
helped coordinate the blood drive in Hannah’s honor.  General Manager Kenny Skaggs and his team
from Waste Management were instrumental in getting employees to the drive. Fifty two people showed
up to help save the lives of children like Hannah and the thousands of people who need blood to
survive in the eight local hospitals that Central Illinois Community Blood Center
supplies with blood.  Christina Schutze recruiter for the blood center said, “Blood is needed every day
for patients with cancer, trauma, sickle cell anemia and other diseases. We are very thankful that Waste
Management recognizes that need and participates in this community service.”
