| WHAT'S BREWING: Arts, Culture and Neighborhood Revitalization in Granite City THURSDAY, December 13 7:30 a.m till 9:00 a.m. Justine Petersen . 1950 State Street . Granite City What’s Brewing is a series of breakfast conversations to explore issues, connections, and opportunities for St. Louis metropolitan area communities. For the Fall 2018 series we will visit parts of the St. Louis region where arts and culture are integrated into community-building efforts. We have partnered with local artists and leaders that are actively engaged in these neighborhoods to explore how arts and culture influence and impact community development. Granite City, Illinois has a rich set of cultural and arts assets integral to their city's revitalization. This community offers strong examples and lessons learned along the way about the roles that arts and culture play in community revitalization. Join us for this breakfast conversation to explore arts and culture in community development. This session will include: *Brief background presentation by Dr. Todd Swanstrom of UMSL (10 min) *A panel discussion featuring neighborhood leaders who have played key roles in the community’s development through arts and culture (30 min) *Group discussion to explore opportunities and strategies to utilize arts in neighborhood improvement (45 min) |
