| Hello everyone, we are back after a few weeks of R & R and we hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. In our travels over the years we have celebrated Mardi Gras in many different places. We have been to the traditional New Orleans celebration that everyone knows, at the original home of Mardi Gras in Mobile, Alabama, and several surrounding places including Florida and an island or two. So, Mardi Gras is this month's home page theme! We have caught beads and doubloons by the hundreds and eaten our fair share of King Cake, but this year we are glad to be home in our city, impatiently awaiting the end of winter and the arrival of Spring. Please take a glance through the home page to see all of the activities that are planned for this month. There is an event at Alfresco, an Elvis Tribute at the Eagles, an APA Taco and Bake Sale just to name a few. Happy Mardi Gras everyone! On a last note, there are three Granite City families who are facing extremely difficult situations and who need the support of our community. The Wimbish family, the Valle family and the Groetecke family. You will find fund raising information lower on this home page. Please consider helping these families who are going through life altering changes. If Granite City is known for anything, it is for standing together and helping our own. It's our finest quality. |
